Growing up as a young child, I watched and helped my mother (Long Sheng Dickey) clean the house every single day. She would come up with the most unique ways of organization with whatever was around the house. Being a single mother with four children to raise, it was necessary to be creative since budgets were tight at that time. Making something from nothing was definitely her strong suit. Re-using old plastic containers for storage, or sewing curtains from bed sheets, she could always find something to repurpose or make. As I stood by her side, watching and learning these projects, my own passion came to life. I made clothes for my barbie dolls from old socks, and as I became a teenager, I started to really fall in love with interior design. I've been designing and making things ever since!
In 2001, my mom had breast cancer and that changed my view of life forever. The thought of losing someone so dear to me was something I could never forget. Being that my mother has had many struggles throughout her life and is such a selfless woman, I wanted to give her the best life she deserved. Eventually she overcame the cancer, and I knew from then on in order to give her the best life, I needed to start my own company someday. After receiving my Product Development Fashion degree from FIDM in 2004 (Los Angeles), I worked for some fashion companies and I also started side projects/companies with some partners. I learned tremendously, but failed tremendously as well. With interior design always being on the back of my mind, my mother came to me one day saying she needed a better solution for organizing her jewelry because she couldn't find anything she liked on the market. I told her I could make one for her, and that sparked the start of my company Bleach LA Furnishings LLC. in 2012. It was a very long journey with many sacrifices made. With my passion for both fashion and interior design, I create home products that not only look beautifully stylish in any home, but can help organize your everyday life. With so many stresses that may come daily, live well with ease, because everyone deserves to:)!
